COMBINING a holiday break with a bit of good racing some Solihull Cycling Club's youth riders took part in the Welsh Criterium Championships in Tywyn last week and, yet again, produced some superb performances.
Mr Reliable, Matt Shaw, showed his credentials by finishing 2nd in the U8 boy's race and Ed Harrison also took an impressive 2nd in the U10 race to compliment his 6th place in the North East Youth Tour the previous week.
In the U14 race Joe Fox hit good form to take a well-deserved 3rd place and, spurred on by her son Matt, Jane Shaw took 5th place in the Womens Senior Road & Track event.
On the TT scene it was business as usual for Alastair McChesney who won the Warwickshire 10 again on a difficult Tuesday evening with his 22-22, Eddy Priddy clocked 23-17 to make it a onetwo for the club with Dave RutherforD 4th in 24-05 and Colin Williamson 8th in 25-25.
On the following evening, in less windy conditions, McChesney won the Beacon 10 with a 21-07 from home club rider Ed Moss, who clocked a 21-44. Williamson was 8th again in 23-46. Fresh from his 2 wins McChesney travelled to Gloucester to ride the Western TTA 10 on Saturday and although finishing 3rd overall he was 1st Vet on actual time.
Meanwhile, in the Rugby RCC 10 Alex Zebedee rode well to finish as second lady in a time of 26-57. The following day three club riders completed the VTTA 25 on the K33 course towards Worcester. McChesney was best club rider again in 55-52, taking 7th overall, with Andrew Simpkins clocking a 1-01-30 and Williamson a 1-03-04. ..SUPL:
