MARK Mouland had enough fuel in his tank to win the Numark British Par 3 Championship at Nailcote Hall in Berkswell despite a three-putt on the 18th hole.
The Welshman stormed round his home course to shoot a four-under par final round 50 to head the field of 62 players by two strokes.
Following his exemplary first round one-under-par 53, when torrential rain came close to washing out the tournament, the former European Tour regular continued to shine with an impressive closing round.
He finished on five-under-par 103, two shots clear of Lancashire's Lee Slattery who shot rounds of 51 and 54 over the two days sandwiched between the Celebrity-Am events that made this event so popular during USPGA week.
"It is absolutely fantastic to win," said Mouland who scooped the £5,000 top prize.
"This is a fantastic tournament and there is a lot of work that goes on behind the scenes to attract European Tour players to Nailcote Hall. It is good to know I can still beat them," he added.
Former Open champion and Ryder Cup captain Tony Jacklin - the special guest host at the championship - carded a five-over-par 113 to tie for 20th spot. ..SUPL:
