The Rotunda

By Zaza Ginz

It stands in the middle of town
A building of international renown
They were going to pull it down
But the People of Birmingham said "No!"

"We can see it from everywhere
People come from all over and just stand and stare."
They said, "It's too proletaire!"
But the People said "No!"

They made up every excuse and said
"It's of no use!
To keep it we must refuse!"
But the People said, "No!"

"It's a boastin' building
It's proportions make us sing."
"We must make way for the modernizing."
But the People of Birmingham said "No!"

They tried to ignore the lobbying
Got up to their monkeying
Said "We must build a new Bullring!"
But the People said "No!"

In the end the people saved it
It still stands for all benefit
They said, "You'll live to regret it!"
But the People said "No!"
