THE expansion of an automotive company in Fen End could bring death to the roads of surrounding villages.
That's the view of an action group which is fighting The Fulcrum Partnership's plans to expand Prodrive, which could house a new British Formula One team.
The international company, based on the former Honiley airfield, aims to increase its workforce to 1,000 with the building of new offices, design studios, laboratories and a conference centre.
Proposals, which have been forwarded to Warwick District Council, show that a roundabout will be placed next to a new entrance off the Honiley Road/ Brees Lane junction to ease traffic congestion.
But the Fulcrum Prodrive Action Group (FPAG) insist this is not enough and small country lanes will become deathtraps.
"This is a safety issue, people are going to be killed on the roads," said Fen End resident and FPAG member Sue Audhali.
"We already have so many accidents around here. I don't let my children out on their own during rush hour. I already complained about their workers not driving safely," added the moth-er-of-three.
Prodrive's Corporate PR manager, Ben Sayer, said: "Traffic will increase, we haven't tried to hide that fact because with more jobs, there will be more people on the site. We cannot dictate which route people take to and from work.
"However we have logged the traffic concerns and are talking to the highways authority as part of the planning process."
