The new limit has been introduced on the A452 Kenilworth Road, between the B1042 and Balsall Common after one fatality, two serious and seventeen slight personal injuries.
Five more collisions occurred on the hazardous road between January 2002 and March 2005, all of which involved vehicles turning through gaps in the central reservation.
The Police and emergency services made strong representations to Solihull Council following the fatal acciden, to immediately close all gaps in the central reservation to stop all right turns and u-turns in the road.
Proposals were also made to impose a 60mph speed limit on the A452 Kenilworth Road between the A45 Coventry Road and the Hall Meadow Road roundabout at the entrance to Balsall Common. These
A DANGEROUS stretch of road has been made safe by a new 50mph speed limit after one fatality, two serious and seventeen slight personal injuries. propoosals were ammended after concerns raised by residents so that the gap at Marsh Lane junction remained open but highlighted with red anti-skid surfacing and new junction signing, and the speed limit was lowered to 50 mph.
Two speed visors at Marsh Lane will support the new speed limit which has now come into force and soon the West Midland Casualty Reduction Partnership will be installing speed cameras at Bradnocks Marsh Lane.
