RESIDENTS with properties blighted by airport proposals for a second runway will have to wait even longer to find out their fate.
In a 'High Level Statement of Intent' published by BIA this week it was revealed that a second runway would not be built before 2020 - four years later than originally planned.
The delay came as the report revealed that original predictions of airport movements could be 20 per cent less than first stated.
James Botham, secretary of Birmingham Airport Anti-Noise Group (Bang) said: "This brings the case for a second runway back down to earth with a bump.
"Right from the start we have argued that government forecasts of a huge growth in air travel were highly questionable."
Meriden MP Caroline Spelman said: "This gives rise to real concern in the surrounding community.
"It is debatable whether a second Heathrow needs to be built in the Midlands."
Richard Heard, managing director of BIA said: "It is part of our continued effort to communicate with the Government, the local community and our business partners. ..SUPL:
