SOLIHULL School has hit back angrily at claims it is under investigation over fee fixing.
Weekend reports in both the national and regional press suggested the Warwick Road private school was part of a group of seven being investigated by The Office of Fair Trading (OFT) following claims they met regularly to set prices.
However the school has slammed the suggestion, saying it is completely untrue.
A school spokesman said: "Solihull School follows the Code of Practice for Independent Schools covering the exchange of commercially sensitive information. This code has been provided to all independent schools by the Independent Schools Council to meet the remit of the Competition Act 1998. "Recent reports in the national and regional press were completely untrue.
Solihull School is not, or ever has been, under investigation by the Office of Fair Trading for possible breaches of competition law."
Other schools caught up in the allegations included Worcester's Royal Grammar School and several centres in the Coventry School Foundation.
Companies found guilty of breaching the Competition Act face a penalty of up to 10 per cent of their three years' annual turnover.
If allegations against Solihull School were found to be true it is believed the educational institution, which includes a sixth form, could have to pay out up to £2 million.
A spokesman for the OFT confirmed they were looking at a number of schools accused of fee fixing but refused to name any of them or their locations.
