JAGUAR has presented special trophies of recognition to two employees who helped rescue two men trapped upside down on a ride at the Star City leisure park in June.
The frightened pair were left dangling 15ft from the ground on the Robocoaster ride while firecrews tried to bring them back down.
But firefighters were unable to move a robotic arm that had become stuck and called on the assistance of experts at Jaguar who work with robotics.
In the meantime they built a platform to support the men's weight until help arrived.
Dave Nelson and Bob Smith came to the rescue, swiftly managing to activate a manual override mechanism.
Area manager at Jaguar, Paul Stanton arranged for the trophies to be made in the Browns Lane factory in Coventry and engraved for each of the men, thanking them for their "outstanding humanitarian contribution to the community".
West Midlands Fire Service attended the presentation, with Jaguar also wheeling out one of its special James Bond XK8 models for the occasion.
Les Ratcliffe, community relations manager at Jaguar Cars said: "Jaguar's work in the community extends to many areas, with this being one of the most interesting challenges that our employ-ees have been asked to undertake.
"We are pleased our two engineers were able to use their skills and support to assist with the rescue of the two people, something that could have ended up being much more serious."
