Cutting cloth with the Queen

Solihull News

A SOLIHULL businesswoman has gained Royal approval to stock a unique new fabric collection after receiving an invitation from the Queen.

Diana Celella who owns The Drawing Room Interiors in Dorridge was delighted to receive the royal invite, the only designer in the borough to do so.

Based on the Royal palaces, the collection of fabrics and wall coverings is inspired by the furnishings at Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle.,

Diane said: "I was very honoured to receive the invitation. I was invited to Buckingham Palace for the day as the representative from Solihull and one of only three in central England.

There were other designers throughout the country there and we wandered around the palace and had some champagne, then we had a presentation and saw the beautiful collection.

"The range will feature fabrics, wallpaper, upholstery and beautiful cushions in really rich damasks,

chenilles and silks and beautifully rich colours."

Featuring the Royal Crest, the range draws upon the rich archive of historic materials used in the palace interiors over hundreds of years. It will be available in the autumn with income from the collection going towards the upkeep of the palaces and associated projects.
