VIVA, the national animal welfare organisation, will be campaigning outside Tesco in Monkspath this weekend to protest against conditions at pig farms which supply the company with meat.
The Stratford Road store will be targeted as part of a national demonstration on Saturday January 24.
Uproar was caused following an alleged undercover investigation at one of Tesco's multi-million pound meat sup-pliers.
It is claimed dead piglets were left lying amongst their siblings, and maggots crawled over a piglet's corpse.
Local campaigner Ursula Bates said: "I think people really believe that companies like Tesco are above this sort of thing. We're going out there to let their customers know they aren't."
Tesco and the RSPCA have investigated the allegations and denied there are problems.
"There was a situation regarding the disposal of animal carcasses but that has now been rectified," said a Tesco spokesperson. "Meat production is regulated by the government and is among the strictest in the world."
